Epictetus. Stoic Lessons from a Slave (The Discourses & The Enchiridion)
Переглядів 9812 роки тому
Epictetus and his Discourses, as well as his Enchiridion, are prime examples for the wide applicability of stoicism. He, as a slave, proves that philosophy is not just for people that have too much time on their hands but that it can and should be a cornerstone of everyone's life. Martin Buber: Seeing People for What They Are vs. What Purpose They Serve

Often we see people as a means do an end. We ask ourselves how they can help us achieve our goals and in many circumstances that may be justified but the theistic Philosopher Martin Buber believed that there is another way. In his work "I and thou", Buber explains two different modes in which we address other and how they impact us. The modes are the I-it and the I-thou... Support me on Patreon...

Hmmm he said looks are important in beginning but won't carry on , you need good personality for that. But without looks it won't start so whats the point in getting good personality. If u get good looks and still fail, you'll change your personality accordingly but it doesn't matter if it never starts

Hey brother, you said put looks aside and put value onto things that matter, like happiness, success, confidence, you said these values. But If you think about it, confidence is something looks give you, you know that better than anyone, you get happy from, and success is a subjective word, right? So someones success can be looking good but they dont which means they can never be successful and look at Jeremy meeks? How success is he.. World is unfair, you hate it or protect it, its a doomed world.
